UPMRCL awards consultancy contract to TCE led consortium for Agra Metro

As reported, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRCL) which was earlier known as the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation, has recently issued a letter of acceptance (LoA) to the consortium of Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE), 3TI Progetti Italia-Ingegneria Integrata SPA and Leap Infrasys for a contract which is estimated to be worth Rs 106.2 million for the design consultancy work for corridor-I of Agra Metro Rail project.
Reportedly, earlier in September, UPMRCL had narrowed down two firms for the contract, for which the tender was floated by the body in June, which consisted of the consortium of Systra MVA Consulting (India) and the French company, Systra; and the TCE led consortium. The tender was floated by UPMRCL in June this year.

The scope of work includes – detailed design consultancy (DDC) services for civil, architectural, electrical and mechanical (E&M), traction and power supply works for the Sikandra-Taj Mahal East Gate corridor (Corridor 1) of the Agra Metro Rail Project.

As reported, in a bid to identify the land to be used for the project (two metro corridors and yards), the Agra District Administration had put together a 20-member team under the sub-divisional magistrate.

The finalisation of land will reportedly only happen on receiving No-objection certificates (NOC) from various authorities. Although, UPMRCL has received NOCs from the Agra municipal corporation, Jal Sansthan, Agra Development Authority and Agra Smart City; it still needs the go-ahead from Archaeological Survey of India (ACI), Forest department, Provincial Armed Constabulary, and the Defence Estate.
