Welspun-Kaveri Infra JV to supply water to UP villages

Welspun Enterprises Ltd (WEL), in a joint venture (JV) with Kaveri Infraprojects Ltd, Hyderabad, has been empanelled by the UP State Water and Sanitation Mission, Namami Gange, and Rural Water Supply Department (SWSM) for the execution of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects across villages, for the project survey, preparation of detailed project report (DPR), design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance for 10 years of rural water supply in Uttar Pradesh.

WEL is the lead partner in the JV with a 74% share. The estimated aggregate contract value of the above projects is Rs 2,500 crore (excluding operations and maintenance value and GST). The final value will be determined on the completion of the DPR and its approval by SWSM.

Preparation of the project's DPR and construction is to be progressively completed in about 21 to 28 months. After completion, operations and maintenance would be carried out by the company for a period of 10 years.

This project will be executed across a total of 2,544 villages of Uttar Pradesh. This includes 877 villages of Sant Ravidas Nagar district, 747 villages of Jaunpur district, 439 villages of Bulandshahr district, 241 villages of Ambedkar Nagar district and 240 villages of Amethi district.

Welspun Enterprises Ltd (WEL) is a part of the Welspun Group. Currently, the company has orders worth Rs 1,100 crore in the EPC water segment. The company's key activity is in the infrastructure business. Welspun holds equity investments in Welspun Natural Resources Private Ltd (Oil and gas exploration).
