Modi lays foundation stone for Rs 11 billion projects in Maharashtra

At an investment of Rs 11 billion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched road and underground sewerage system projects in Solapur, Maharashtra. During his visit in Maharashtra, Modi launched the four-laning of the Solapur-Osmanabad section of NH-211, underground sewerage system and three sewage treatment plants.

Besides, he also laid the foundation stone for a housing project of 30,000 units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana worth Rs 18.11 billion and commissioned the revamped Solapur-Tujlapur-Osmanabad highway section on NH-221.

In order to boost connectivity of Solapur with the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, the 58-km-long, four-laned highway section is being expanded at a cost of Rs 972.5 crore. Two major and 17 minor bridges, four vehicular and 10 pedestrian underpasses, and one 3.4 km bypass at Tuljapur is expected to decongest the region. Of Rs 1,811.33 crore, Rs 750 crore will be provided by the Centre and the state as assistance.

Modi also laid the foundation stone for the Rs 244 crore water supply and sewerage system as a part of area-based development in the Solapur smart city area. Developed under the Smart Cities Mission, the project is expected to bring about significant improvements in service delivery.
