ITD Cem emerges as L-1 bidder for Chennai Metro Line-4’s Underground Work

ITD Cementation India Ltd. was announced today as the low bidder for the civil construction and tunnelling contracts for the 10 km underground packages UG-01 and UG-02 connecting Power House Ramp - Light House Station on Chennai Metro Line-4. CMRL had invited tenders for both of these packages of the 118.9 km Chennai Metro Phase 2 project, which has a 48-month deadline and is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) through a $780 million (approx. Rs. 5890 crore) loan.

Package UG-01

Bharathidasan Road Station and Light House Station are connected by this 5.15 km route with twin tunnels and 5 stations. Four of them will be built as part of this package, and they will be located in Bharathidasan Road, Alwarpet, Kutchery Road, and Light House.

The Line-3's Package UG-04, which was awarded by Larsen & Toubro, will be used to construct Thirumayilai Station (the interchange of Line-3 and Line-4) There is no longer a station planned for Foreshore Road.

Package UG-02

With five stations at Kodambakkam Flyover (formerly Meenakshi College), Kodambakkam, Panagal Park (with a crossover), Nandanam, and Boat Club, this 4.877 km section with twin tunnels connects a ramp west of Kodambakkam Flyover Station to Boat Club Station. There is no longer a station planned for Natesan Park.
