Telangana CM Urges Centre to Declare Regional Ring Road as National Highway

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Wednesday, where he presented several requests concerning the state's road infrastructure. He urged Gadkari to designate the southern portion of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) as a National Highway and to expand the Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway to six lanes.

During the meeting, Revanth Reddy informed Gadkari that the stretch from Sangareddy to Narsapur-Toopran-Gajwel-Jagdevpur-Bhongir-Choutuppal, covering 158.645 km, had already been declared a National Highway. He highlighted that the state government would cover half of the land acquisition costs for this project.

Additionally, the Chief Minister appealed to Gadkari to declare the Choutuppal to Amangal-Shadnagar-Sangareddy stretch, spanning 181.87 km, as a National Highway. He also requested the inclusion of the Kalwakurthi to Kolhapur-Somasila-Karivena-Nandyal (NH-167K) road, totaling 142 km, in the National Highway network and called for tendering for its development.

Further requests included upgrading the Hyderabad-Kalwakurthy road (NH-765k) from two lanes to four lanes and declaring the Jagityal-Peddapalli-Manthani-Kataram state highway as a National Highway, with a plea for adequate funding.

Revanth Reddy also sought approval for 12 proposals under the 'Setu Bandhan' scheme for Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs) submitted by the state government for the fiscal year 2023-24.

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of these initiatives in enhancing connectivity and facilitating economic growth across Telangana.
