Jindal Power hires former Coal India head as chairman

Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) power division, Jindal Power Ltd (JPL), has appointed former Coal India head Anil Kumar Jha as its Chairman.

Jha, a former Chairman of Coal India Ltd (CIL), is considered a "veteran" in the mining industry.

The JPL Chairman is a mining graduate and also holds an MTech degree from the Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad. He started his career with CIL as a Junior Executive (Trainee) at Topa Colliery in Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) in 1983 and joined Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) as Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) in November 2015.

JPL operates a coal-based thermal power plant with an installed capacity of 3,400 MW located at Tamnar, Raigarh District in Chhattisgarh.
