This is the first time AMPRI came up with a technology to make woodblocks from bamboo for better durability, finishing of the products, elegance, and sustainable tree wood substitute.

With the growing wood demand in the construction sector, it has become difficult to manage the supply chain, as no tree aged less than ten years can be used for timber in the region.

Teak and few other local species of trees have been the major source of timber in Tripura and other north eastern states.

As a building material, bamboo has high compressive strength and low weight and has been one of the most used building materials as a support for concrete, especially in locations where it is found in abundance. It is used for the construction of scaffolding, bridges and structures, houses.
